Snow Days…Winter Portraits…and a Backyard Rink…

Meet Glen, Tracy, Owen and their Backyard Rink‘….  Outdoor, Winter Portraits you say!! most would cringe at the thought of that.  True enough, this is not likely for the family with a newborn, or maybe not even the small children who have yet to appreciate the process of bundling up to go out and play…but, perfect for the family that enjoys yet another outdoor adventure , the ski bunnies, the young skating stars, the dye hards who hit the toboggan hills no matter what the weather man says, and even our Engaged couples. It was perfect for Tracy, Glen and Owen with their backyard rink, and who wanted something different from previous years studio portraits we had done.  When they asked me if I thought their backyard rink would make a good backdrop for their family session this year, without hesitation, I said ‘Yes!’  I could see it clear as day, what a great session this would be.  And it was…the rink was extraordinary, the day, a perfect sunny Snow Day, ready to seal the memories of this years family portrait…A Big Hug & Thank you Tracy,Glen & Owen !! xo

For those of you who love to skate, ski, snowboard or going for a toboggan ride while having your portraits taken…Please visit Studio West Photography for info. on our Winter portrait special!! Drop me an email so we can chat about possibilities!! Cheers! T.

Gift Certificates ~ 12 Days of Christmas Promo….Milton, Oakville, Burlington Portrait Photographer

I LOVE Christmas!…it’s such a feel good time of year.  A time to GIVE….A time to REFLECT on the year past, and to get CLEAR for the upcoming one….A time to FOCUS on the little things in our lives…A time to ENJOY with our Families. Christmas brings a sense of RENEWAL, and reminds us just how important Family and the relationships, we hold close to our hearts, are to us…

It is with this in mind, that I have my 12 Days of Christmas special.  Because I believe so passionately in taking the time to do Family portraits…taking two hours of your time and allowing someone to document that moment in time, with the ones that mean so much to you…I have seen it, felt it, heard it….Honestly, It’s hard to put a value on that…I would love to just Give that away all the time if I could, just so people could see how valuable that experience and those moments truly are…

While I have GIVEN this season already, to a couple very special families… I would like to Give some more….so here it is, a special incentive for my Christmas Gift Certificates this year!

For each Gift Certificate purchased, I will match the dollar value!! you purchase a GC for $150 I will match that, and give you your GC for $300…Get it?! Good….Green means GO, you got 12 Days (til Dec. 20th) Ladies and Lads!!!

A Season to GIVE…Santa Session Portrait

This holiday season is upon us…and we are looking forward to hosting our annual Santa sessions this coming weekend Dec. 2nd, 3rd, 4th…As I posted a note yesterday of the few last appointments still available, it occurred to me I needed to GIVE this experience to families who are not in a position to provide this magical experience for their Children…I would like to share the Gift I have been given, as a Gift to someone else…

It is a season for giving…so we would like to GIVE…we would like to GIVE one of our Santa Sessions to someone in NEED. If you are in need, or know of someone that would otherwise, just not be able to share the experience of a visit with Santa, and the receiving of a couple of beautiful images of their children, documenting the happiness and joy this brings, we would like to know about them…and give them this Gift…

Please email Tara at studiowest@cogeco.net with the names, contact info, and reasons why you would like to them to be the receivers of this GIFT…I will then make my selection for the last few remaining appointments I have left, and privately contact the recipients to inform.

Memories, Laughter & Relationships=Family ~ Toronto Portrait Photographer

I have just had the most humbling experience over the past few weeks…my Dad went in for Triple Bypass heart surgery …yep triple…1, 2, 3…Three very profound reminders to me, that = Family…

1. Memories… on that day, Thursday July 14th…I will never forget, how time stood still, during those hours he was in surgery.  My sister and I found ourselves being very silly at moments, then just sitting staring blankly…while our  minds replayed vividly all the memories… ahhh the memories…and all the reasons attached to those memories why he needed to return to us, with the gift of a healthy heart, for  many more .

2. Laughter…now you may not think this is something we should of, or would of, been doing on this day…however, we did.  (I would imagine this explains volumes about my family ;) )  We laughed, we laughed alot, and mostly with my Dad, in the wee hours of the morning, before his surgery. Now true, we hadn’t got much sleep the night before…Dad wanted to stay up all night and party! no joke, except he couldn’t eat or drink anything after 8pm, so not much of a party…but it didn’t matter much…. That laughter helped my sister and I get through those hours while he was in surgery…no matter what is happening around you always remember to have a good Laugh!

3. Relationships… while memories and laughter are not tangible or something you can touch… relationships are…we can touch them, hold them, love them & let them go. This experience brings you back to the basics of human existence. Nothing else seemed to be as important, as that relationship, in those hours. Nothing! from what day or time it was, where my kids needed to be, and when? if they were fed properly? sat on the potty? had their nap? what I ate, wore, the fact that my garden flowers were wilting, grass was burning, and without me being home would likely not get watered, or how the pile of work on my desk would only get a little higher…the normal considerations of my everyday, almost vanished from my thoughts…except, the thought of just how important my relationship with my Dad had been in my life, and how grateful, I would be to have some more time with him…

My Father will successfully wear his scar as a badge of honour for his courage, and strength…The most giving man I know, was given the ultimate gift, and so were we. A gift of more Memories, Laughter, and some more time, with the wonderful Relationship we share….so very grateful!

It is with this experience that I honour & Celebrate Families…I am so fortunate in what I do, how I am able to preserve, the three very profound reminders I just experienced, that to me = Family…I wanted to share with you some of the Families I have been privileged to worked with so far this summer…A reminder to enjoy the Memories, the Laughter & the Relationships you share with your Family…but most importantly, Don’t forget to Laugh!!  T.xo

With all this being said, here is my very special offer, for Fall Family portraits… ‘Pay What you can’…that’s right, because Three was my magic number here, I am offering the first Three inquiries for Fall Family portraits the opportunity to ‘pay what you can’ for your session….you tell me what you can afford to pay for the session when you contact to book :) …This is all In hopes of encouraging all of you, to take sometime to do some family portraits and hopefully provide some incentive to do so!!! :)
